Homecoming 2023 Golf Tournament

FVSU NAA, Inc. 2023 Homecoming Golf Tournament

Join us for a round of golf this homecoming on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 7:30 AM. This year’s tournament will be played at the Southern Hills Golf Club, 360 Warner Robins Highway (Hwy 247) Hawkinsville, GA 31036.   

Jim Dent PGA Professional with 16 wins will be the Tournament Ambassador.  The early bird entry fee through October 1st is $100 per player and $400 per team, which includes green fees, cart, prizes, and refreshments.  Beginning October 2nd, the fee will increase to $125 per player and $500 per team. Check-in is at 7:30 AM and Shotgun Start is 8:30 AM.  Sponsorship levels are also available.

GAAHBSU 38th Annual Legislative Conference

Register for this year’s 38th Annual Legislative Conference of GAAHBSU (Georgia Alumni Association of Historically Black State Universities) on February 7-9, 2023. The event will be VIRTUAL. This year’s theme is “Charting Our Destiny”. Savannah State University National Alumni Association, Inc. is this year’s host. Each session will begin at 7 PM and will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The registration cost for this year’s conference is $30, and the cost of a full page ad is $25. The last day to register is January 31, 2023. There will be a performance by Nu-Beginning Band. The event will feature guest speaker Dr. Wright Jones, world renowned plastic surgeon, FVSU graduate, owner and founder of MUSE Plastic Surgery. There will be a buffet and balloon release. This event is in partnership with Chair Carlotta Harrell of the Henry County Board of Commissioners. All proceeds will benefit FVSU Scholarship Programs. FVSU NAA, Inc. Southern Crescent Alumni Chapter Academic Scholarship

The Southern Crescent Alumni Chapter awards several scholarships to students that have been accepted to the University or are currently enrolled at FVSU.  Fort Valley State University is one of Georgia’s three public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the state’s only 1890 land-grant institution. We recognize the challenges facing our students and offer some financial support through our scholarships. The chapter provides its awards recipients with the support and assistance needed to succeed to ensure that more students can earn a college degree. 

Due to the financial generosity of FVSU Alumni, Friends, and Family, the Southern Crescent Alumni Chapter is accepting applications for our annual scholarship awards.  Please complete the below application and submit all required documents by August 7, 2022 to southerncrescentalumnichapter@gmail.com. We're asking alumni to please share this information to potential students.

Fort Valley State University is one of Georgia’s three public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the state’s only 1890 land-grant institution. Founded in November 6, 1895, FVSU leverages a 125-year tradition of excellence and uniqueness in academic and co-curricular programming to educate students of all races, genders, & cultural background from all over the world, even as it builds on its expertise in transforming individuals perfected as an historically black university.

These scholarships results from an initiative provided by the supporters of the University’s 125th year celebration fundraising. We are pleased to recognize FVSU’s best and brightest in academia with a scholarship to their alma mater. FVSU Alum, Dr. Daniel K. Wims Investiture Ceremony

FVSU Alum, Dr. Daniel K. Wims will have his investiture as newly appointed president of Alabama A&M University on April 29, 2022 on the campus of Alabama A&M University. There are several events leading up to and day of his ceremony. Alumni that wishes to donate or join in the celebration of our fellow Wildcat there is "Investiture Week". There is a formal event, 22nd Annual Black-Tie Scholarship Gala on Friday, April 19, 2022. Performance by soulful singer and composer, Avery Sunshine.

Dr. Daniel K. Wims was been named the 12th President of Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama. Dr. Wims graduated from Fort Valley State College with a degree in Agronomy in 1987. Dr. Wims replaces retired President, Andrew Hugine, Jr. on December 31, 2021.

The Nominations Committee is currently soliciting your input of names for consideration as candidates for national officers for the FVSU National Alumni Association, Inc.

We need your assistance in identifying names of committed and hardworking alumni, who are dedicated to serving for the success of Fort Valley State University and the National Alumni Association, Inc. The 2022 Nomination Form which includes the requirements to be eligible to run for office, the qualifications and responsibilities of each officer as stated in the FVSU National Alumni Association, Inc. Bylaws dated July 21, 2018. These nominees/names will be considered by us at the elections meeting during the Biennial National Conference scheduled to be held July 15-16, 2022.
