Senator Jackson and other Members of the Georgia State Senate To Host Press Conference on Senate Bill 273
ATLANTA, GA - Senator Lester Jackson (D-Savannah) filed Senate Bill 273 which would create a State Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) System in the state of Georgia. Senator Jackson will address historic underfunding of state HBCU institutions, solutions to reverse declining enrollment and the potential for a state HBCU system to create engineering, pharmacy and law schools for its students.
The press conference will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Georgia State Capitol to address proposed legislation to strengthen all three of Georgia’s state HBCUs (Savannah State University, Albany State University and Fort Valley State University). All three institutions will maintain their name and historical significance.
